Phelan Hungry: One Dish Fall Baked Pears

Cozy nesting Fall is in full swing after making these over the weekend..and honestly, turning fall fruit into autumnal dessert is the only #beforeandafter (🥴) I can get behind!

I’m no RDN (or chef, for that matter) but I have found that the process of making food that sparks joy helps get you out of a diet culture mindset around enjoying your food. Chef Julia Turshen also wrote an excellent feature in Bon Appetit Magazine about how writing her cookbook helped her break free from diet culture that is a great read! If you’re on my newsletter list you got the link when it came out in March, so make sure you sign up so you don’t miss references like this!).

I’ve also found that cooking/baking can help you get back in touch with your hunger and fullness cues bc you’re so much more connected to the sensory experience of the food from start to finish than you are with takeout. No hate on takeout though, my partner showing up at home with ramen noodles is certainly my love language!

That all might sound like a obvious given if you’ve never struggled with disordered eating, but for those of you who have, it’s everything! I highly recommend this dish which I riffed off the baked pears on Minimalist Baker because I didn’t have all of her ingredients, but it still turned out excellent, IMO!
